WHO WE ARE
CHOCU which stands for Children Helping Other Children in Uganda, was found by Charles Lukyamuzi, Edna Allsop Henke and Lynn Henke. It was founded with the aim of providing early childhood care and education to vulnerable children and building resilience to help them overcome childhood vulnerability. The organization is focused on improving the outcomes of the most vulnerable children in rural areas, one school at a time. CHOCU also seeks to address health issues faced by many rural children, such as malnutrition and resulting illness, and to provide early intervention and education to help children achieve their potential, be healthy, safe, and resilient.
HOW WE WORK
For Children, For People, Forever
CHOCU
Children Helping Other Children in Uganda (CHOCU) is committed to supporting vulnerable children in Uganda. We believe that all children, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserve access to early childhood care and education and the opportunity to build resilience.
Our mission is to ensure that all school-aged children can achieve their potential, healthy, safe, and resilient. We aim to help restore broken lives and provide hope to vulnerable children from poor and broken families in Uganda.
We hold respect, non-discrimination, accountability, responsibility, confidentiality, and integrity as our core values.
Our focus is to improve the outcomes of the most vulnerable children, starting in rural areas, one school at a time.
We have identified several program areas, such as better nutrition for children in rural areas, child welfare, community services continuity, promoting safe and stable families, rural community development, and providing shoes for barefoot children.
We also acknowledge the health issues faced by many rural children, such as malnutrition and acute respiratory infections.
We believe that early intervention and education are crucial to the proper growth and development of children, and we are committed to directing our efforts towards these principles.
Through our work, we hope to create better adults, workforce, and leaders in Uganda's future.
